Technology and engineering consultancy BJSS continues to support growing cities and help level up the north, creating more tech opportunities outside of London.

Global technology and engineering consultancy BJSS is this year’s headline sponsor at the Sheffield Digital Festival 2022, a celebration of how creativity meets technical excellence.

This year’s festival, which runs over the course of five days at multiple locations across the city, is focused on the theme ‘Our Future City’, with the festival set to explore how the Digital and Creative local communities can support the future of Sheffield.

For BJSS, the decision to sponsor the event was an easy one.

Andrew Long, Head of Delivery for BJSS Sheffield, says: “By sponsoring the Sheffield Digital Festival 2022, we are highlighting our commitment to supporting the local tech community, as well as the wider economy.

“BJSS is focused on unlocking latent tech talent in the UK’s expansion regions, to help in levelling up the country. In November last year, BJSS announced a recruitment drive which will see 250 new tech jobs created across eight new locations across the UK, all outside of London.”

For Andrew Long, investing in Sheffield’s tech community is a long-standing passion. Born and raised
in Sheffield, Andrew didn’t see many local opportunities advertising suitable roles in
the tech industry. Creating such opportunities in Sheffield is therefore a top priority for him and his team:

“Sheffield has so much potential. Not only is there an ever-growing ecosystem of tech
companies that we’re seeing people are starting to leave London for, but Sheffield is an established home to a number of large private and public sector organisations in addition to the fast-growing Advanced Manufacturing Research Centre“

“Ever since we opened our office in Sheffield in 2020, we’ve supported the local tech community by sharing our local and international insights and education via events such as the Sheffield Digital Festival. Additionally, we’ve grown our team of 30 to a team of 80, and we want to continue to support the demand for our services from our customers by continuing this growth trajectory.”

“This is the third time we have supported Sheffield Digital Festival, and we’re looking forward to being involved in this year’s event again by hosting a number of events in our office to celebrate Sheffield’s creative and technical excellence.”

The Sheffield Digital Festival is set to take place from Monday 9th May to Friday 13th May.
