Aaron Gibbon, a software testing engineer based in the BJSS Leeds Delivery Centre, has been named Graduate Tester of the Year in the 2016 European Software Testing Awards.
Aaron joined the autumn 2015 intake of the BJSS Graduate Programme after being awarded a First Class Honours degree in Computer Science and a Master of Engineering from the University of Leeds. During his graduate year, and with support from the in-house BJSS Academy training programme, Aaron played an important role in the testing of the company’s flagship NHS Spine 2 project. He also singlehandedly produced core test automation components on which the programme relies and which the NHS continues to use.
"Congratulations to Aaron Gibbon, BJSS, for winning Graduate Tester of the Year,” says Cecilia Rehn, Editor of TEST Magazine and Chair of the Judging Panel. “The judging panel was in agreement that Aaron showed clear evidence of applying best practices, collaborating with colleagues and researching and learning from them, as well as from the test community to meet and succeed the needs of his clients and projects. The commitment to share this knowledge in the community via blogs and talks, and within the company via training materials, also highlights his commitment to quality and the wider community. Overall, the Awards programme has seen a 25 per cent increase of entries in 2016, and the competition has been incredibly fierce."
“We’re very proud of Aaron’s achievement,” continues Glynn Robinson, BJSS Managing Director. “When he joined the BJSS Graduate Programme, Aaron showed great potential which we realised, with support from the BJSS Academy, would add value to our NHS Spine 2 delivery. As a valued member of our award-winning testing team, we will continue to support Aaron in his journey towards his chosen specialism.”
