BJSS is pleased to announce it has played a major role, working with the Health and Social Care Information Centre (HSCIC) in saving the NHS £21million in the last year.
BJSS and HSCIC worked collaboratively to build what is believed to be one of the largest Open Source systems in the public sector – and a critical part of England’s national healthcare infrastructure.
Replacing commercial tools with Open Source tools, leveraging commodity hardware and adopting the BJSS Enterprise Agile approach enabled the joint BJSS & HSCIC team to deliver a system with an 89 per cent reduction in response time, saving the NHS 750 hours every day.
This approach has enabled the new Spine to be easier, faster and cheaper for health and care staff to access systems and to communicate and share information, releasing time and resources for patient care.
Glynn Robinson, Managing Director of BJSS, says: “We are delighted with the exceptional results from the new Spine; not only is this testament to innovation in healthcare technology but demonstrable proof open source can be used to deliver complex software solutions on a national scale.”
The new Spine is designed to allow developers and local teams to more easily develop innovative solutions to address the particular needs of their patients and users. New assurance processes make it possible to safely bring new technologies to market faster than ever before.
Robinson continues: “The Spine now offers far greater flexibility, enabling those working in the NHS to respond more effectively to customer demands and making it much easier for other suppliers to integrate with the infrastructure. We are extremely proud of the Spine results and our contribution to this key piece of national healthcare infrastructure.”
