BJSS, the award-winning delivery-focused IT consultancy, has allocated four of its senior software developers to participate in and provide technical development guidance to the End Sexual Violence in Conflict 'diplohack'.
As part of the Global Summit to End Sexual Violence in Conflict, the diplohack is championed by the UK Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs, Mr William Hague, and Angelina Jolie, Special Envoy for the UN High Commissioner for Refugees. The initiative brings together developers from across the world alongside diplomats, experts on sexual violence in conflict and NGO representatives and tasks them to produce technology solutions that will:
- Improve investigations/documentation of sexual violence in conflict;
- Provide greater support and assistance and reparation for survivors, including child survivors, of sexual violence;
- Ensure sexual and gender-based violence responses and the promotion of gender equality are fully integrated into all peace and security efforts, including security and justice sector reform; and
- Improve international strategic coordination.
“Sexual violence in conflict destroys lives and damages communities," explains Mark Hipperson, General Manager of BJSS. "We're pleased that we're able to contribute our skills and experience towards building these very important technology solutions."
