BJSS, Kainos and the DVSA have been announced as winners in the IT Project Team of the Year category at the UK IT Industry Awards.
The win recognises the combined BJSS, Kainos and DVSA team who successfully digitised the agency’s practical driving test. This revolutionary project saw the replacement of a heavily manual, paper-based process with a fully digital service that is the most significant change to the driving test process since it was introduced in 1934.
Mark Magee, Head of Driver Policy/DES Project Executive, DVSA explains: “The move to mobile technology brings the driving test into the 21st century. The approach of using a network of examiners as early adopters has also set a new benchmark for the way that DVSA will involve users and manage change in the future.”
Susheel Dodeja, Head of Public Sector, BJSS says: “The new digital driving test has completely transformed the driving test experience for both examiners and candidates. Examiners now have a better way of working and successful candidates can obtain their driving licences faster than ever before. This award recognises the outstanding work delivered by a blended BJSS, Kainos and DVSA team, that worked tirelessly to deliver a truly human-centric digital solution.”
